BOTSWANA GOLDEN GRAND PRIX KICKS OFF AMID PREPARATION CONCERNS.

Despite concerns over venue preparedness, the Botswana Golden Grand Prix athletics meet is set to start today at the Botswana National Stadium in Gaborone.

Speaking during a conference yesterday, Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) chairperson Marumo Morule stated the significance of hosting the event. He mentioned that the country’s previous athletic successes, coupled with hosting the prix, indicate government’s continued commitment to developing sports. 

There have been concerns regarding the country’s readiness to host the Grand Prix. As, this week BNSC issued a statement confirming that the National Stadium track was not ready due to delays caused by the recent rains. However, the commission also assured that the venue would be prepared in time for the event.
