Botswana has secured a lucrative deal to export beef to China.
This development comes closely on the heels of the country's first-ever beef shipment to the United Arab Emirates, further diversifying its export portfolio.
Assistant Minister of Agriculture Molebatsi Molebatsi announced the closed deal at the ministry's Training Symposium, revealing that a contract signing ceremony will soon take place, officially opening access to the Chinese market.
The agreement is expected to be a game-changer for the Botswana economy.
Meanwhile, President Mokgweetsi Masisi attributed the rising demand for Botswana beef in new export markets to the country's unwavering commitment to quality and sustainability.
According to Botswana Meat Commission's (BMC) Public Relations Manager, Shadi Linchwe, the recent successes in securing export deals with China and the UAE highlight the effectiveness of the BMC Meriting Strategy 2022-2025.
