The Botswana Unified Revenue Service has collected its highest-ever annual net tax revenue, recording 61.1 billion pula by the end of March 2025.
This surpasses the initial target of 58.7 billion pula and marks the strongest revenue performance in BURS’s history since its establishment.
Speaking at a press briefing, Commissioner General Jeanette Makgolo said the impressive performance was mainly driven by strong collections in Value Added Tax and Southern African Customs Union receipts.
According to Makgolo, these gains helped offset a shortfall in income tax during the financial year.
