GOVERNMENT TAKES DOCTORS UNION TO COURT OVER EMERGENCY CALL DISPUTE

Article By: Sekhona Muchado

Government is taking Botswana Doctors Union BDU this morning, seeking an urgent intervention to stop what it terms an unlawful strike by doctors employed in essential services.

Union President Dr. Kefilwe Selema says doctors are exhausted and underpaid, and accused Health Minister Dr. Stephen Modise of downplaying the crisis.

The standoff has triggered public concern, with mixed reactions shared in interviews with Gabz FM News.

Many fear the health system could be further strained.

Doctors also voiced frustration, demanding better working conditions and fair treatment.

BDU has called on members and the public to attend the court hearing set for 10 a.m. today at the Industrial Court in Gaborone.

Meanwhile, calls for urgent dialogue are growing, including from the Botswana Congress Party, which has urged both parties to avoid disruptions in healthcare services.
