Assistant Minister for State President, Maipelo Mophuting, says restrictive laws and policies have hindered the establishment of more rehabilitation centers in Botswana.

Speaking on Gabz FM’s Midmorning delight show, Mophuthing explained that the current legal framework makes it difficult to expand services, leaving the country with limited facilities to address substance abuse.

She said government now plans to work with the private sector to overcome these challenges, citing a new project at Sekoma Memorial Hospital as part of the initiative. The Assistant Minister She added that the administration will review and amend regulations to create a more enabling environment for rehabilitation services to grow.
