Parliament has rejected a motion seeking to change the location of upcoming supplementary voter registration from the offices of Principal Registration Officers to polling stations. The motion, tabled by the MP for Mahalapye East Yandani Boko, urged the IEC to revert to using polling stations to prevent potential exclusion due to distance.
Minister for State President Kabo Morwaeng however defended the IEC's decision, citing legal provisions and the need to allow the Commission to operate independently. Supplementary registration will proceed at the offices of Principal Registration Officers from February 26th to March 15th.
