The Ministry of Health has transferred local clinics and services to the Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs to improve healthcare delivery, ensuring all Batswana have access to quality health services, regardless of their location or socio-economic status.
Health Minister, Hon. Dr. Stephen Modise assured that while oversight shifts to Local Government and Traditional Affairs, the Ministry of Health will continue monitoring their progress.
As part of the reforms, 750 vehicles have been relocated to councils, while Central Medical Stores will maintain the selection, procurement, and distribution of medicines. The government has also reviewed healthcare delivery sites and identified five running contracts to ensure continued access to essential health commodities. The reform signals a commitment to efficient, community-driven healthcare services.

Sustainability in healthcare is moving us from isolated models of care to more interconnected, resilient systems—and innovation plays a critical role. In particular, the rise of computer vision in healthcare is transforming everything from resource-efficient diagnostics to streamlined triage and monitoring workflows, helping care delivery evolve in smarter, more sustainable ways.
