Labour policy expert Keaoleboga Dipogiso has raised alarm over rising cases of companies in Botswana bypassing labour laws during restructuring processes. He says while some firms comply, many skip vital steps like consulting employees, notifying authorities, and paying full terminal benefits.

Dipogiso warns this is leaving many workers facing job losses, salary cuts, and unfair exit packages.

Dipogiso says he remains hopeful that the upcoming Employment and Labour Relations Act will strengthen worker protections, with new enforcement bodies like the Employment and Labour Relations Council and the Mediation and Arbitration Board.
