SOS TLOKWENG CALLS FOR URGENT FOSTER CARE REFORM.

Article By: Phenyo Babusi

Child welfare organizations are raising red flags over Botswana’s overstretched foster care system.

They warn that institutional shelters are being forced to carry long-term responsibilities they were never meant to shoulder.

Speaking to Gabz FM News, SOS Children’s Village Tlokweng Project Manager Ivy Mmeanyana said many children are stuck in limbo due to a shortage of foster parents and limited social worker capacity.

Mmeanyana stressed that while SOS aims to provide a family-like environment, institutional care can never replace the stability and emotional support of a real home.
