Article By: Solomon Tjinyeka

Tawana Land Board has issued a stern warning to Dikgosi in the Northwest District over allegations of fraudulent land support letters being issued to individuals seeking land in the Okavango Delta.

Chairperson Reamogetse Yekenge expressed concern at the ongoing full council meeting, highlighting an increase in applications for land in the region’s prime areas. Yekenge accused some traditional leaders of facilitating land grabs by providing misleading letters, which enable individuals to claim ownership of plots in the Delta.

In response to the growing issue, the Tawana Land Board, in collaboration with district leadership, has announced a suspension of all land applications in the NG 32 concession for the next 12 months. The suspension aims to allow for a thorough investigation while to implementing corrective measures.
